Composer, arranger and US military bandmaster who formed the Loyola Band, he was educated at USC. His service band assignments included the Navy Band (1919-1924) and the California National Guard. He directed the USC Trojan Band (1927-1934), and the 1932 Olympic bands. He was the music director and entertainment producer for the Los Angeles Rams and Dodgers teams. He joined ASCAP in 1955, and composed, arranged and conducted film and television music, and also appeared on screen as a musician. During World War II, he was bandmaster for the US Army Air Force, and later the music director for the National Democratic Committee. His compositions include "Rock and Sock", "Big Brass Band Parade", "Roll On, Loyola", "Fight On, Loyola", "Sometime", "Hit that Line", "Rainbow Serenade", "Go, Dallas Cowboys", "Roll, 49ers", "Suzette", "The Football Rock 'n' Roll", "Desert Romance", and "Touchdown Music".
